Deborah Mercier Back Space: your weekly dose of weird

Welcome to Back Space -- a self-syndicated newspaper column that focuses on, well, anything from the conspiracy behind women's jeans to cereal box tops, leaping lemurs to walking Las Vegas in cruel shoes. If it's weird, odd, rodent-like, or ridiculous, chances are it'll find its way to Back Space.

THANK YOU to my faithful readers over the past five years! Were I a professor, I'd tell you I'm taking a sabbatical. But I'm not. (A professor, that is.) I am, however, taking a break from the weekly deadline for awhile. I'll be back at the column -- I'm just not sure when. It's that whole "taking a break from the deadline" thing. If I give you a return date it kind of defeats the purpose... but in the words of a certain cyborg turned California governor... "I'll be back."

In the meantime, I'll be posting some of the early and not so early columns here. Kick back, check back, and enjoy some of the Back Space classics!
