About the book | About the project | Order information by Deb Mercier The summer of 1907 was just a breath away, or so it seemed to Otto Arneson... More than anything, eight-year-old Otto Arneson wants to sail with his father in the Fourth of July race on Lake Minnewaska. His father says Otto isn't big enough. So when Otto spies a captain's hat for sale in a shop window, he forms a big plan. Penny by penny, job by job, Otto deposits his earnings into a savings account. But being “big enough” turns out to be more than Otto ever bargained for. Otto's story not only celebrates a time past, but the ever-present grace that's part of each human spirit.
